TOK SEN MASSAGE
COMING SOON here at LSM, we are busy finalising some new courses for you all, arriving in Autumn 2020.
Traditional Tok Sen Massage is an ancient, highly effective
treatment, which uses a wooden hammer and two chisels - often made from
tamarind or oak - to relax stiff muscles, clear energy blockages, reduce stress
and stimulate the bodies’ energy lines. Each tool is inscribed with the number
nine which is considered to be lucky in Thailand.
The practice is part of the
Thai Yoga Massage tradition and originated in the Lanna Kingdom of Northern
Thailand - long before the modern Thai state existed. The modalities name comes
from the sound the tapping makes, ‘Tok’, and the word for energy lines, ‘Sen’.
Thus Tok Sen roughly translates as tapping the energy lines. Stretches are also
included in the treatment to help prepare the body and to relax it afterwards.
